Kinja'd!!!

I get a weird fart from the exhaust right under my seat when the engine first fires.

The doors are reluctant to close.

Everything squeaks, pops and cracks. Hard plastic interiors ftw amiright? Though tbh it’s really the only time it bugs me.

MY KINGDOM FOR A HEATED STEERING WHEEL. Seriously. I’m not too concerned about what toys a vehicle may or may not have, and I like the simplicity of mine... but one feature I really wish it had is a heated wheel.

Everything is lethargic. Steering is full of molasses. Even after 5 minutes of driving and being mostly up to temp it felt reluctant to get on the highway.

BUT... once everything is warmed up, man this thing has balls in the cold. VROOOOOOOOM. WORTH IT

There you go warm-climate Oppo’s, that’s what it’s like. Know what? I still enjoy it. It’s fine if it’s not windy and when it is the fire is that much more enjoyable.

...aaaaand cue everyone in midwestern Canada jumping on the “you think you have it bad” train. No, not really.

It’s always interesting driving a manual transmission (at least ones with hydraulic clutches) in temps like this. The clutch pedal becomes similarly full of molasses. Same basic temp here this morning in Wisconsin (-4 F).

i looked at the weather and saw 15*F and thought ‘o not too bad today’ followed with ‘its fucking 15 out there, thats bad, whats wrong with you.’

it was -4*F (-20*C here the other day so +15 is comparatively warm. tonight we’re supposed to have wind chills down to -25*F (-32*C) which is a solid F that i’m staying in.

I never thought about that. I’d imagine that’s quite a weird feeling...

Yeah it was supposed to be -35 to -40 here last night with the wind chill. Yesterday evening it was only -14C, which I’d usually consider fine for functioning in if you’re active... NOPE. I couldn’t feel my face inside 5 minutes. I don’t know what the wind chill was at right then, but definitely deep in the “screw this and go burn some wood” range.

‘Course, it’s a different cold than out in Saskatchewan/Manitoba and the states right below them... the extra humidity really gets you

yea, my drive in sucked.

BTW, where about do you work? I have a feeling we are really close to each other. I’m at Cawthra/Dundas now.

Yup, pretty close. I’m just a couple km’s east of you.

Actual cold is fine, that is actually pretty livable. What is worse honestly is somewhere around 35 and wet overnight that then drops into the 20s in the morning and freezes everything. I have been completely unable to open the doors on my Miata, had to resort to pouring a whole bottle of windshield washer fluid in the doors, some buckets of warm water, and gentle prying to pop a door open. This made it take an extra 20 minutes to get to work that day. Any time it is too cold for wet to happen, that is preferable.

But even better is now living somewhere where it was 86 degrees (F, of course) in December.

I disagree with your last statement.

Well its not normally that temperature but with it also being a dry heat, it made for very pleasant weather. I much prefer this week with the mid 60s to 70s and some clouds. This is weather I could live with every day.

I will not however enjoy those couple of late summer weeks though where its 110+ every day. Even with a dry heat, its still just hot at that point. Its like being in an oven. But at least in the shade its typically 20-30 degrees cooler. I am a big fan of cold but I absolutely hate humidity. 65 with 98% humidity is worse than 95 with 5%

Meh, I like my cold. I couldn’t live somewhere with year-round heat

It does feel kind of fake and confusing to me. Its new to me, I am used to seasons back East, so I am not sure what to think yet. I used to HATE summer until I got my Miata, and then I learned that I kind of liked it not having to use the AC all the time.

mine isn’t even that hot to be honest, you need to 40C for it to be hot
